Therapeutic Massage

woman having a head massageTui Na is a therapeutic massage technique intended to be both relaxing and invigorating and based on the practice of Chinese Medicine. Tui Na uses the acupuncture meridians (energy channels) throughout the body to tap into these energy points, using stretches, pressure points, and joint rotations, to balance the body’s vital energy (qi). Some of the Tui Na techniques (such as gliding, kneading, rocking, pulling, friction, and rolling strokes) are very similar to those used in Deep Tissue Massage and Swedish massage.

The practice of Tui Na is performed on clients wearing loose, comfortable clothing. The focus is to ensure joints are exercise with this therapy through a full range of motion. In a Tui Na massage, massage oils are only used on the neck, hands, and feet.

Tui Na is intended to be holistic treatment by restoring physiological and emotional balance by unblocking channels of qi through the body that have been blocked by tension, bad habits, and poor health.

Merle uses Tui Na massage in combination with Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture to provide the best treatment to address health issues, reduce pain and promote faster healing. Her therapeutic massage helps relieve pain, reduce stress, and work on a specific problem—such as a frozen shoulder or muscle knots. Most people believe very an intense deep tissue massage is required to have any therapeutic value. This is a  wrong assumption, a Tui Na massage is relaxing and refreshing and is in preparation for the acupuncture treatment.
